NeuroCognica
Support and Updates
Version: 1.0 · Effective: 2026-07-26
This document says exactly what a perpetual licence includes, and what it does not. It is deliberately conservative: NeuroCognica is one person, and a promise that cannot be kept is worse than no promise.
1. What "perpetual" includes
You bought a version. That version is yours permanently — it does not expire, does not deactivate, and does not require a subscription or a licence-server check to keep running.
| You get | Included |
|---|---|
| The version you purchased, forever | Yes |
| Patch updates (e.g. 1.2.2 → 1.2.3) | Yes, free |
| Minor updates within the same major version (1.x) | Yes, free |
| The next major version (2.0) | No — upgrade pricing, with a discount for existing licence holders |
| Reinstalls / moving to a replacement machine | Yes, unlimited, free |
| Documentation updates | Yes |
Updates are delivered through the in-app updater or as a fresh installer download. You are never forced to update — an installed version keeps working whether or not you take a new one.
2. Update delivery and integrity
The in-app updater checks a configured feed and stages updates for you to apply.
A signing gate is already enforced in code: on the stable and beta
channels the updater refuses to apply an update unless the feed declares it
signed and the staged installer passes an Authenticode check. Today no
code-signing certificate exists, so builds are honestly published as
unsigned_internal — see EULA §7
and VERIFY_DOWNLOAD.md.
We publish the SHA-256 of every installer so you can verify a download yourself.
3. What support covers
Included with your licence:
- Installation and dependency-setup problems.
- Bugs and crashes — reproducible defects get fixed or worked around.
- Questions about how a documented feature works.
- Help interpreting provenance records, logs, and support bundles.
- Guidance on which AI models to use and how to configure them.
Not included (available as paid work — ask):
- Custom feature development or bespoke pipeline integration.
- Training, onboarding sessions, or consulting engagements.
- Support for modifications you have made to the code.
- Making third-party software work in general — if Blender or ComfyUI is broken on your machine independently of Chronos, we will point you in the right direction, but we do not maintain those projects.
- Hardware procurement or GPU troubleshooting unrelated to the software.
4. Response expectations — honest ones
| Target | |
|---|---|
| Acknowledgement of a support request | 2 business days |
| Substantive first response | 5 business days |
| Critical defect (data loss, cannot launch) | Prioritised above everything else |
These are targets, not a contractual SLA, and the EULA does not create one. A single person cannot guarantee 24/7 or next-business-day response without lying. If you need a contractual SLA, that is a commercial support agreement — ask and we will discuss it as a separate arrangement.
If a response is going to be slow, you will be told it is slow rather than left in silence.
5. Support channel
Start at SUPPORT.md. Attach a support bundle if you
can — the app can generate one (scripts/collect_support_bundle.ps1 is invoked
from the app's diagnostics), and it saves a round-trip of questions.
Useful to include: what you did, what happened, what you expected, and the version from Diagnostics ▸ System.
6. How long support lasts
Support for a major version continues for at least 12 months after that major version stops being the current one. In practice, older versions get help beyond that where the answer is easy; the 12 months is the floor, not the ceiling.
7. If NeuroCognica stops operating
Stated plainly because you deserve to know before buying from a one-person company: your installed copy keeps working. There is no licence server, no activation call, and no remote kill switch. Nothing we do or fail to do can switch off software already on your machine.
Your renders, .blend files, and provenance ledger are local, in documented
formats, and remain fully usable in Blender without Chronos.
8. Roadmap is not a promise
Planned features are described as planned. Nothing on a roadmap is part of what you purchased, and you should buy based on what the product does today — documented honestly in WHAT_YOU_GET.md.
If a feature you need is not listed as working today, ask before buying rather than buying in hope.
