NeuroCognica

What we ask, and why

Most sites bury this behind a banner engineered to be clicked away. You are being asked to contribute to research, so you should understand what you are contributing and what happens if you decline.

Start here: NeuroCognica is a research initiative

ChronoSophia pays the bills. The underlying work is research into how people understand themselves, and whether an AI system can reflect a person back to them honestly — with its evidence shown, its uncertainty admitted, and its reasoning open to challenge.

Mirrorborn is that research made usable. It reads what you write about yourself and organises it into an explainable five-station profile. The interesting question is not any single result. It is what changes across many people over time, and whether the patterns hold.

Answering that question needs data. We would rather explain why and let you choose than take it quietly and hope you never look.

Two separate permissions

They are genuinely separate. You can say yes to one and no to the other, or no to both, and change your mind afterwards.

1. Site analytics

What: which pages get visited, how people move through the site, whether something is broken.

Why: it is how a solo operation finds out that a page nobody reaches is confusing rather than unpopular.

What it is not: no third-party trackers, no advertising networks, no cross-site profiling. First-party only. Your IP address and browser are stored hashed, never in the clear, and deleted after 90 days.

2. Research participation

What: whether your Mirrorborn answers may inform the archetype research and improve the instrument.

Why: a taxonomy is only as good as the range of people it has met. Every honest answer makes the next person's reflection better.

What it is not: not required to use Mirrorborn, not required to get your own profile, and never sold or shared with advertisers.

What happens if you decline both

Nothing you came for is withheld. You can still sign in, buy ChronoSophia, download it, take the full Mirrorborn assessment, get your complete profile, and keep your history across assessments.

This matters legally as well as ethically. Consent that is a condition of service is not consent — it is a toll. If saying no cost you the product, the yes would be worthless as evidence and void as permission.

What we do with your answers either way

To give you a profile at all, your written answers have to be processed: a language model tags them against a fixed taxonomy, and deterministic code assigns the stations. That processing is the service you asked for, and it happens whether or not you agree to research.

Two honest details about it:

What we will not do, in any configuration

Changing your mind

Both permissions live in your account and can be switched at any time. Withdrawing is one click and takes effect immediately — the same number of clicks as granting it, on the same screen, with no retention flow in between.

If anything on this page is unclear, that is a defect and we want to hear about it — tell us and it gets rewritten. A consent you did not understand is not one we want.
