Archetype City · early playtest
Playtest Archetype City
The aliens have landed in the city. Fight them on the street, take them on in the air, and push the war all the way to the mothership. We need people with Windows PCs to play the early builds and tell us what breaks.

What you would be testing
Ground combat
Hold the city's streets and plazas against alien infantry whose rifles fire three-bolt bursts or lock on with a solid two-second beam. Squads and cover are still being built.
Air combat
Fly an F-14 against an AI pilot over the skyline. Full sorties, from take-off to landing, are in the code but not yet joined up to the rest of the game.
The mothership
A two-kilometre alien carrier parks over the city. The run into it — fly in, hit the reactor, get out ahead of the blast — is planned and its interior exists, but the mission itself is not built yet.
Conquest
A full battle mode: hold five zones by their turrets, protect the city's data centres, and last until sunrise while the tickets run down.
Be ready for an unfinished game. These are development builds. Expect bugs, placeholder effects, missing features and big changes between builds. Not every mode above is in every build, and some are much further along than others.
It runs on Windows 10 or 11 (64-bit) only. There are no published minimum specs yet: finding out what it runs well on is part of why we are asking, so telling us your graphics card helps.
We will email you when there is a build for you to try. Places are limited, so signing up does not guarantee you a build straight away.
You're on the list.
Thanks. We will email you when a playtest build is ready for you. If this address was already on the list, nothing has changed and you will not get a second email.
Meanwhile, the game's progress goes up on the channel first.
What we keep, and why
- What is stored: your email, and the name, PC specs and "how did you hear" answers if you give them, plus when you signed up and the wording you agreed to.
- What it is for: emailing you about Archetype City playtests, and knowing what hardware testers have. Nothing else. It is not shared, sold, or added to any other mailing list.
- What is never asked for: a password, a payment detail, or ID.
- Abuse protection: your network address is never stored, only a one-way hash of it, which limits how many sign-ups one network can make in an hour.
- Leaving the list: email founder@neurocognica.org from the address you signed up with and it is deleted. The list is deleted when the playtests end.
Full details are in the privacy policy.
